Phoebe - Age 15

Phoebe Prince was a 15-year-old student at South Hadley High School, located in South Hadley, Massachusetts.  Phoebe was bullied over a period of six months.  She took her own life on 14 January 2010.

The District Attorney brought criminal charges against six teens, in connection with Phoebe’s death.  The District Attorney described Phoebe’s last day, “It appears Phoebe’s death followed a torturous day for her in which she was subjected to verbal harassment and threatened physical abuse.”

Six teens are being criminally charged in connection with the death of South Hadley teenager Phoebe Prince. District Attorney Elizabeth Scheibel said Phoebe was relentlessly bullied for more than three months before her death and that the South Hadley High School staff knew about the problem.

The District Attorney noted that Phoebe’s mother reported the bullying twice to school officials, but nothing was done about the problem.

It should be noted that the parents of Phoebe sued the school district and reached an out of court settlement.
